hi boys and girls welcome to reading for today so for reading we're going to be starting our new story called Clyde monster the story were reading all about a little boy he's a monster so monsters like Clyde that we know they don't really exist but sometimes writers will use different kinds of characters are different kinds of preachers to tell a story in this story the author is using monster named Clyde to read tell his story so as we read today you're going to just follow along with me while you have your book in front of you I'm going to stop a couple times and you ask some questions when I asked those questions you're going to pause your video and you can talk about the actions that I asked out loud then when you're ready just hit play and the more they keep moving on South Clyde monster I don't wasn't very old but he was growing uglier every day he lived in a large forest with his parents father monster was a big big monster and very ugly which was good friends and family usually makes fun of a pretty monster mother monster was even clear and greatly admired all in all they were a picture family as monsters go so I know that good readers clarify while they're going to check their understanding of what we read to figure out what the ending that confuse them admired means the story says that it's good for Monsters to meet ugly and that mother monster was very ugly very well much admired so I heard must mean well thought azure well-liked Clyde lived in a cave that is he was supposed to live in a cave at night anyways during the day he played in the forest doing typical monster thing like breathing fire at the lake to make steamed rice so the story give some examples of typical monster things to do so remember typical is one of our vocabulary words and that's a word that means usual or normal what are some of the things that monsters do that we've learned out so far that's kind of typical for a monster to do chia pod and talk about it so some of the typical things that monsters do that I kind of caught on from reading that seems like typical that typically monsters will play in the forest during the day or they'll blow fire on the lake to make some steamed rice so does all the time that are usual or typical he also did typical Clyde thing like turning some false that made large holes in the ground and generally bumping into things he was more clumsy than the average monster so pause for a second what are some of the typical Clyde things that Clyde dozens the story so something's that it seems that just Clyde likes to do maybe not all monsters is that he likes to turn somersaults which we learned a summer is when you're turning head over heels so it's like a forward roll and generally bumping into things so he was clumsy he was he bumped into things easily so those are some kinds of the things that Clyde likes you at night Clyde was supposed to go to his Kate and sleep that's when the trouble started he refused to go to his cave why I asked his mother why won't you go to your cave has answered Clyde I'm afraid of the dark so I can understand kind of how Clyde feel because I've been afraid of the dark too I know it's silly but sometimes I get I get scared when I can't see all the things around me so as we keep be aware of how things in that quiet field in the text might remind you of things that might happen to you or things that you felt before a free story to his daughter until his nose burn a monster of mine afraid what are you afraid of people said Clyde I'm afraid there are people in there who will get me that's silly said his father come I'll show you he breeds a huge burst of fire that lit up the cave there did you see any people no answer Clyde but they baby hiding under a rock and they'll jump out and get me after I'm asleep that's silly pointed his mother. His mother with her pointer town with her pointed tongue there are no people here besides if there were wouldn't hurt you they wouldn't ask Clyde knows that his mother do you ever hide in the dark under a bed or in a closet to scare a human boy or girl so let's pause for a second what Clyde's mother say about Clyde's fear of people and can you think of what some human parents might tell their children about monsters souqy is mother said that there were no people hiding and Clyde's cave but if they were if there were people hiding Clyde's cave the people would hurt him human parents like our parents I said there are any monsters may be hiding under our better hiding in our room and that monsters are real of course not explained Clyde upset is that his mother would even think of such a thing as people don't hide and scare you either a long time ago monsters and people made a deal explained his father monsters don't scare people and people don't scare monsters are you Clyde ask absolutely said his mother do you have a Monster who was ever frightened by people no answer Clyde after some thought do you know of any boys or girls who ever fight whoever frightened by a monster no he answered quickly there said his mother now off to bed no more nonsense about being scared by people order his father okay so Clyde as he stumbled back into the cave but could you leave the Rock open just a little so what do my Clyde ask his parents to leave the Rock open a little bit so I want you to look at the pictures so far of Clyde's cave for his room and what do you think he means by that they can leave the Rock open just a little so what can I have some of the pictures seeing that here's where Clyde their ears were quite as kind of walking in and they're kind of the doorway so what I still think he means by closing the rock just a little I think he's asking parents to close the door but not to close it all the way cuz if he'd they close it all the way and make it really really dark again but if they close it just a little there still a little light coming through all right so poison of this was our story Clyde monster that were going to be reading about this week so as you read the story on your own thing about some of things Clyde learns about from being afraid in the story think about how what fights problem is it how his parents helped him
