Class Policies

Homework - Homework will be given every night except for Fridays.  This year the second graders will be using planners.  The students will be responsible for copying their homework down off the smartboard.  This is a way to foster their independence and to make them more responsible.  Each night there will be a spelling assignment and a math assignment.  At times there will be other homework added to that as well.  I will go around and check each student's planner to make sure they have successfully copied down their homework assignment and spelling words.  You will see a star next to their printing which means I've checked it over. I will be posting the homework as well on Seesaw.  The planner should come to school every single day along with their homework folders.  The notebook is where the children will write their spelling words each night as well as any sentence writing that I may have them do.  The math homework will either be a workbook page from their math book, a review sheet to complete, or a section of IXL.   Please make sure you're checking their agenda books daily to see what their assignments are.  If you have any questions please feel free to contact me! 

 

Arrival Procedure - The arrival time is between 8:10-8:25.  Your child needs to be in the classroom by 8:25.  If they arrive after 8:25 they will be marked tardy.  It is very important that your child gets a good night's sleep and is here on time to begin school.  

 

Birthdays:   All birthdays can be celebrated in the classroom.  Birthday treats are to be dropped off with the student in the morning or brought to the main office. They will no longer be distributed to other teachers. Only prepare enough for the class. There are no more big celebrations in the classroom.  Please contact your teacher through e-mail to arrange a day to drop off the treats.  Your child may dress down on the day of their birthday.
