TEACHING PHILOSOPHY

My overall approach to teaching is to give explicit instruction, while making it fun and interactive.  My focus is to inspire my students who may struggle and motivate my students who grasp concepts quickly to keep wanting to learn more about subjects. I believe my approach encourages students to love school, when I see my students choosing to make up mathematical equations during free choice time, I have done my job well.  When my students are excited to share what they learned with their parents and siblings it fills my heart.

My goal for my students is to inspire and motivate them to give their best, but for them to be proud of who they are and the special gifts they all have as individuals.  God loves us all and gave each of us special gifts to share with others.

I am always surprised how my students love learning.  It is such a wonderful thing to be able to inspire the love of learning!

One theme I want my students to pass on to others is one of my favorite quotes, "Be the reason someone smiles today."  We all have choices to make throughout our day, I ask my students, do you want to be the reason someone is smiling on their way home from school or the reason they are not smiling?  I feel talking about this makes us all aware of our actions.
