Hi Folks! I can't believe next week is our last week of school...it's bittersweet for me. This class has been such a joy to teach and spend every working day with. It is a WONDERFUL group of children.
 
Next will be very busy:
Monday: Field trip and 3:00-4:00 mandatory Talent Show practice
Tuesday: Arts Day and Talent show
Wednesday: Field Day and ice cream social 
Thursday: 1/2 Day
Friday: Mass and 1/2 Day
 
Field Day team colors will be red, white, or blue. Please dress your child in GCS gym shorts and a shirt of the designated color. Water bottles are encouraged and please apply sunblock at home before school.

Field Trip Rescheduled for Monday, June 10th

The Maritime Center called and asked us to reschedule for Monday, June 10th.  I have called the bus company and made the changes. We will leave GCS at 9:30 arrive back at school at 2:30.
The schedule is as follows:
9:30- Leave GCS-
10:00-Arrive at Maritime Center
10:00-11:00 visit Aquarium exhibits
11:00-11;30 lunch in classroom on the 3rd floor or outside
11:30- walk to IMAX Bathroom Break
12:00-1:00 Backyard Habitats Movie
1:00-2:00 SeaShore Animals Classroom Activity
2:10-2:40 Bus Back to GCS

Change of plans- 
No Spelling or Religion test this week!
No Spelling HW. Please practice multiplication facts and read, read, read!

Hi Folks!
 
  • We will have our last religion and spelling test next Friday, which means the children will have spelling HW.
  • There will be no more math HW-except for practicing multiplication facts. The children realized how quickly they forgot their facts when I gave them a Mad Minute. I strongly suggest that the children continue to practice their facts throughout the summer so they are ready for fourth grade.
  • Thursday, June 6th, we will be going to the Maritime Center to take a class on Sea Shore Animals and watch an IMAX movie about our backyard habitat.
  • Please pack bag lunches and wear regular dress uniform- do not send in money for shopping.
  • The children are loving our new novel Trumpet of the Swan.

3-M Full Dress Tomorrow

Full Dress tomorrow as we have Mass from 12:00-1:00. Recess will be moved to another time during the day.
 
Please check your child's HW folder for the Maritime permission slip. The class will be participating in an educational class on Sea Shore animals, eating lunch, and seeing the IMAX Movie. If there is time, we will try to visit the touch tanks and other exhibits.
 
No Spelling or Religion HW or tests this week.
 
Study multiplication facts every night!!!
 

GYM and Library tomorrow!

Tomorrow 3-M will have gym and library! Please have your children wear the gym uniform. 
Please look for your child's multiplication Mad Minute in their HW folder. It seems they have gotten a bit rusty with their facts. Facts must be practiced every night.
 
See you at 1:30 for the concert.

correction- recorder concert is only 1:30 tomorrow

I understand it was posted that 3rd grade will perform their recorder concert tomorrow night but that is a mistake. Third grade will perform only at 1:30. 

3-M Full Dress and Recorder Tomorrow

Reminder-
Tomorrow at 1:30 is the 3rd-grade recorder concert. Children should be in full dress.
They will have gym in their full dress uniform.

Hi Folks!
 
The children had a great time at the Bush Holley Museum today- I hope they tell you all about it!
 
There are a few reminders:
-Wednesday @ 1:30 will be our recorder concert *Full Dress*
-Spelling and Religion Test next Friday
-4th Q Book Project due next Friday (Cheeseburger and Connections Packet)
-Friday will be Pirate Day as we will be finished with our chapter book (Geronimo Stilton Lost Treasure of the Emerald Eye) All children are encouraged to dress up as a pirate (regular dress with Pirate accents- wigs, hats, earrings, patches -we will have a menu of cheese-related snacks. If you have a recipe for anything tasty that includes cheese, reach out to me.

Hi Folks!
 
  • Tomorrow the children will have a Topic 10 test in math. On Friday, they will have a spelling and Religion test.
 
  • Sarah Bush will visit us on Wednesday at 1:30 to discuss her life in Colonial Greenwich.  Then, on Friday, we will go to the Bush home to see and hear about Colonial life.
 
  • Tomorrow the children will visit the Book Fair in the morning.
 
  • The 4th Q book project is due Friday, May 24th.
Thank you so much for the generous and beautiful tokens you sent in for Teacher's Appreciation week. It has been a joy to teach and spend every day with your children. I was blessed this year and will enjoy watching your children grow throughout the years to come at GCS.

3-M Library and Music tomorrow-bring recorders!!

Pippi party, SS test, Music, and Library.

Hi Folks!
Students have a SS study guide in their HW folders. The test is on Thursday. We will have a book party to celebrate the end of Pippi Longstocking on Thursday. Children are encouraged to wear striped socks, girls can wear their hair in 2 braids and boys can wear a tie and cap.

  • Girls may wear their First Communion veil or flowers/pretty bow in their hair

The children will be bringing home a study to use for the Jamestown test on Thursday. We read it in class and highlighted important information.
