Dr. Lisa Rooney returns to the Board of Directors of GCS having served two terms while her four children were students at the school. Throughout her time as a GCS parent, Dr. Rooney gave yearly lectures to students and parents on puberty and adolescence, rooted in Catholic morality, as part of the Family Life program. Lisa loved serving at the school in person whenever possible and was grateful that scoliosis and lice checks, coordinating Wednesday “pizza lunch” and assisting with theatre
productions fit into her schedule.

Dr. Rooney has practiced pediatrics for thirty-six years, mostly in private practice in Stamford, CT. She received a BA in Biochemistry from Mount Holyoke College, her MD degree from New York University School of Medicine, and completed her pediatric residency and chief residency at NYU Medical Center and Bellevue Hospital. Her vocation and volunteer positions have allowed her to pursue her passions for caring for and advocating for the physical, mental, and spiritual health of children.

Lisa served three terms on the Board of the Child Guidance Center of Southern Connecticut. She has served on the Pediatric Quality Assurance Committee and continues to serve on the Pediatric Executive Committee at Stamford Hospital. Lisa is a lay member of Regnum Christi. For several years she co-directed a Regnum Christi youth program called Leadership Training Program, involving catholic girls from lower Fairfield and Westchester counties. Lisa currently serves as a co-coordinator of
Parish Partners, a group that promotes prayer and provides companionship and accompaniment in creative ways to those in need at her home Parish of St. Catherine of Siena and St. Agnes. She is also an Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion and lector.

Lisa and Bob, her husband of 41 years, have a love for and commitment to Catholic education and an enduring interest in the success of GCS, where their two granddaughters now attend.
