Cultural Diversity Week in PreK 4

Teaching diversity at a young age helps children explore the world around them. Starting with the first day of school, PreK students learn ways that they are all special and unique, and that overarching theme paves the way for each lesson throughout the PreK-4 curriculum. Another important aspect of learning at this age is parent involvement, and due to the pandemic, Mrs. Intrieri incorporates technology to keep our parents engaged with the PreK program.

To celebrate Cultural Diversity, parents of GCS PreK-4 students volunteered to teach the class something about their heritage via Zoom.

Using the classroom's SmartBoard, students were able to follow along to recipes, dances, stories and interesting artifacts from cultures throughout the world. One highlight was Mexican BINGO! and learning how to make guacamole. Cultural Diversity Week ended Friday with a story about Ireland and an "All About Italy" presentation featuring mini cannoli.

Thanks to all of the parents who shared so much about their culture and heritage with us!
