Revise your work, looking for variety and clarity in your word choice, smooth transitions throughout, and strong, persuasive evidence to support your opinion. 1. Vocabulary: We will take a vocabulary test covering Tuck Everlasting: Prologue - Epilogue. When instructed, open the Google Form and begin. Check your work carefully, and click SUBMIT when you're done.


2. When all students have submitted the test, we will move onto writing. This will be a peer-editing work session. Take out the rough draft of your opinion essay. (You should have printed it out for homework last night.) You will be assigned a peer-editing partner. Exchange drafts with your partner and carefully read each other's work. Fill out the peer editing checklist you are given, taking note of strengths, as well as suggestions for improvement. Once I have looked at your checklist, give it to your partner

1. Start by writing the FIFTH PARAGRAPH of your opinion essay. Carefully follow the directions on the attached CONCLUDING PARAGRAPH google slide. You may choose to write and edit a draft in your writer's notebook and then transfer your work to the slide.  DO NOT turn in this assignment. You will refer back to it as you compose your final draft. (See below.)

2. Using your 5 essay planner google slides, you will create a rough draft of your essay. Open a blank google doc and name it. Now, begin to copy/paste your work from each slide, beginning with the Introductory Paragraph slide and ending with the Concluding Paragraph slide. Once you have all 5 paragraphs transferred, make sure to organize your document and format your work correctly, using these guidelines:
12 pt. font size
Times New Roman font style
-  Double spacing throughout
1" margins
Title & first/last name at top 
3. If time allows, read over your rough draft. Proofread carefully, and revise for clarity. Use the attached grading rubric to make sure you have followed directions and included all requirements.

3. Lastly, we'll do a sort and order activity. Use your notes to write each of the 8 linking verbs and 15 helping verbs on a mini card to create a practice set of 23 mini cards. On your desk, place the cards in the correct order, creating one column of linking verbs and one column of helping verbs. When you're done, put your notes and cards away, and click on the google doc below. Type out the 8 linking verbs and 15 helping verbs in the correct order under the proper headings. Check your notes to make sure you got them right. When they're correct, click SHARE. (Keep your cards in a safe place. You can use them to study tonight for tomorrow's quiz!)
