Scan the attached Opinion Writing Topics file that we discussed in class today, and see if one of them interests you. You may either use one of the topics on this list for your essay, or change it a bit to make it your own, or even use a different topic of your own choosing (subject to approval, of course). As we begin this writing unit next week, you will need to take a side and support your opinion with valid reasons, so start giving this some thought.

Good Morning! This week, we will take a break from our literature and vocabulary units to focus on grammar! We will also complete some standardized testing later in the week. 😁
1. First, we will review the 8 linking verbs that were introduced last week. We'll commit them to memory using the song, "Yankee Doodle".
2. Next, we will add the 15 helping verbs to our notes and our song, and work on memorizing them too.
3. Lastly, we'll do a sort and order activity. Use your notes to write each of the 8 linking verbs and 15 helping verbs on a mini card to create a practice set of 23 mini cards. On your desk, place the cards in the correct order, creating one column of linking verbs and one column of helping verbs. When you're done, put your notes and cards away, and click on the google doc below. Type out the 8 linking verbs and 15 helping verbs in the correct order under the proper headings. Check your notes to make sure you got them right. When they're correct, click SHARE. (Keep your cards in a safe place. You can use them to study tonight for tomorrow's quiz!)
