7 Spanish-Accelerated Assignments

You should know the meaning of all of chapter 4A vocabulary words, how to spell them and how to use them in sentences. 
You will have a dictation and will have to complete fill in the blank exercises using vocab words.
You will have to write sentences about places to go and activities to do during your free time
You need to know how to use the verb IR in the present tense and the preposition a that follows it. (a la, al, a los, a las)
You need to know all 11 interrogative words; Not only their meaning but how to use them. 
You will have to construct questions. 
When you study for this quiz, I suggest  that you not only review the chapter's vocabulary list but also  look at textbook and workbook exercises.  Pages 127-129 in the guided section as well as p 72-73 in the core section of your workbook will help you prepare for the quiz's interrogative words section.

Write 5 sentences using the information in the chart you did in class.  The sentence should include the person(s) in your list, the place they go to and with whom they go. You should use all the  grammatical persons. Also do not repeat the places.

Once you have created your vocabulary list for chapter 4A (+/-56 terms), complete at least:
1 Learn exercise, 1 Spell, 3 Matches and 3 Test were you get 100%. You might need to do more than three to get 100%.

Quiz will include:



-Using (reading, writing and understanding) the chapter's vocabulary
-Using (reading writing and understanding vocabulary from previous chapters ( particularly 1b)
-Writing sentences to describe a person or thing using adjectives.
-Filling in the blank using the right conjugation of the verb ser.
-Writing about meals and food (descriptions )

Make a poster in Spanish with five health suggestions. Gather information from a variety of sources and create a visual presentation.  You have to write about good eating habits and exercise; add illustrations or designs to enhance your presentation. Review the task and steps in pg. 201 of your textbook. Size 11X17 inches. Rubric details are in the book.

Complete classwork ( workbook and textbook exercises) if you didn't finish them during class.

For exercise 23 write all 3 sentences following the model. The post card should have at least 6-8 sentences.

1. a) Make two lists: one of your 6 favorite dishes and another of 6 dishes you think you should be eating (5pt). 
    b) Make two lists: one with the main foods of your favorite dishes and another with the main foods of the dishes you think you should be eating. (10pt)
 
NOTE: A dish is usually made up of several different foods (cooked or not) and might be just one part of a bigger meal.
My favorite food is avocado. My favorite DISH is spaghetti carbonara. My favorite meal is breakfast!

-The dish's names and foods it contains should be written in Spanish.
-You might need to do some research online on "comida saludable and comida rápida".
-Goggle translation does not work for this assignment. (Often, food dishes can not be literarily translated.)

2. Describe one dish from your list. (5pt)
-What is the dish called? 
-What is IN the dish? 
-When do you eat it?

Imput 3B vocabulary lists and complete at least 1 "Learn", 1 "Match", and 3 "Tests" (with 100 score) exercises.

Summarizing, identifying what is most important and restating the text in your own words, is an important tool for learning a language.

Read again the story and write a summary in Spanish. (At least 10 sentences long)

When writing a summary, remember that it should be in the form of a paragraph. A summary begins with an introductory sentence that states the text's title and main point of the text as you see it. A summary is written in your OWN WORDS. A summary contains only the ideas of the original text. Do not insert any of your own opinions, interpretations, deductions or comments into a summary. Write a last sentence that “wraps” up your summary; often a simple rephrasing of the main point.

Write 3 true statements and 3 false statements for the two first paragraphs of your reading. Use your "own words"

This is an optional assignment.
If you would like to study this weekend for your Tuesday's Spanish quiz, I am attaching the book's test preparation exercises.
If you complete them, you can hand them in Monday and get 5 extra points.

The single page worksheet has some vocabulary with which you might not be familiar. I suggest you use a dictionary to help you with the words you might not know.
Don't forget that when you encounter a verb in the infinitive form after were you should use the verbs gustar or encantar these two words are always going to be singular. However if you have an article and a noun after the verbs gustar or encantar you should use gustan or encantan if the noun is plural.

Make a chart as the one in the book. Complete the "what you eat" and "what you drink" columns with information about yourself and of two imaginary acquaintances. At least put 5 items per person, per column per meal

Complete the form. Arrange the words to make a sentence and write the correct form of the verb (In other words conjugate verbs!).
Don't forget to start your sentence with a capital letter and end it with a period.( If you do not do it the program will mark your answer wrong.)

Remember to answer in complete sentences.

-Complete the LEARN exercise if you did not finish it during class time.
Make sure you complete the "know well" section with all the terms and click the finish square. If not, it will come up on in my computer as unfinished.
-Complete the TEST exercise. Take the TEST at least 3 times.

Create a study set of vocabulary terms using Chapter 3A vocabulary's list, pg174 in your textbook.

-You are to produce your own set. You should NOT upload, share or use any other vocabulary set but your own.
-You should have at least 50 terms to get credit for your work.

Create your school schedule in Spanish using your new 2A vocabulary notes. Include the following:
1. Mi Horario (title)
2. Days of the Week (lunes, martes, miercoles, jueves, viernes)
3. Period (primera hora, segunda hora......etc.)
4. Subjects (arte, el almuerzo......etc.)

Make sure your days of the week and school subjects are lowercase! Organize this information in a chart format so it is easy to read and follow. If you create this on the computer, make sure you print it out so you have it for class. You will be asked verbal questions about your schedule. You are allowed to make it colorful or add small pictures as well if you'd like to be creative.

Use textbook p. 114 to handwrite the 2A vocabulary words in English and Spanish. Do not submit on Google Classroom. Work will be checked in class.

1. Record yourself reciting the Spanish alphabet using Vocaroo. You can use my slides to make sure you don't skip any letters!
2. After reciting the alphabet, spell your name phonetically as practiced in class. For example: Paniagua = Pe-a-ene-i-a-ge-u-a.

1. Continue to review "El Alfabeto" using my slides and the attached video. THINK: What letters are missing from the video that are unique to the Spanish alphabet? Make sure to practice the sounds verbally. You will have to recite the Spanish alphabet individually and spell out your full name for a grade.
2. Please handwrite and review my slides titled "Gustar and Indirect Object Pronouns" if you missed any portion of the live class session. Watch the attached video which has a catchy song to help you remember the pronouns and rules!

Please review the attached sheet (El Alfabeto) given in class today. Practice the pronunciation of each letter using the attached Google Slides as well. Goal: You will need to be able to recite the alphabet in Spanish for a quiz grade (date TBD).

We worked on phonetic spelling in class today. For example: jueves = jota - u - e - ve - e - ese

Based on the above example, try spelling these words phonetically, in Spanish:
