Teaching Philosophy

I believe that each student deserves an education tailored to enhance his or her strengths and needs.  As a teacher, it is my responsibility to create differentiated lessons that meet the needs of each student.  I provide many opportunities for students to communicate, test and use their knowledge to further their learning.  Students learn best when they explore and build on their own knowledge.  Affording students this opportunity in the classroom encourages them to become more frequent contributors, and therefore more eager to take responsibility and an active role in their own learning.  Engaging students in developmentally appropriate and meaningful tasks is the first step in effectively managing a classroom.  I strive daily to use student feedback and my personal reflections to enhance my teaching skills.
