Welcome to Mr. Radzin's 7th and 8th Grade Religion pages! I am blessed to have been a member of the GCS community since 2016, and privileged to help the students learn about God's great love for them and grow in their relationships with Jesus Christ.

Quick announcement to everyone:
 
I will not-- I repeat, NOT-- be expecting you to have your community service handed in for Q3. With everything going on we all have enough challenges right now, and with the world being shut down the way it is there are very few opportunities to go out and do community service.
 
Assuming things get back to normal in a few weeks, we will have an opportunity to do our community service a little later on. I would still like to see us complete all of our hours for the year-- there will be more of a need for us to help others after this than there was before, so hopefully we can play a little catch-up on serving others later in the school year-- but depending on the situation we can assess that at a later date. For right now, don't sweat it, focus on the things you need to in the moment and take care of yourselves and your loved ones.

Dear 7th and 8th Grade Students and Parents,

Thanks to everyone who submitted their homework yesterday, as we work out the kinks from this distance learning, it's important that we all bear these challenges with patience and a trust in God.
 
My set office hours for the rest of the week will be:
 
Tuesday-Wednesday 9:30-1:30
Thursday-Friday 9:00-1:00
 
Subject to change, of course (isn't everything these days? :)
 
During these times I will be at my desk and should be able to respond to you very quickly. I will also be available outside of scheduled hours for the rest of the week, but my response may not be as immediate. I will post any revisions to my hours.
 
However long this situation lasts, let us always remember that God is with us in it. I am a big believer in Divine Providence-- that every bad situation is an opportunity for God to bring out good in abundance. I think this is what St. Paul meant when he said, "We know that all things work for good for those who love God, who are called according to his purpose." (Romans 8:28) It is up to us to keep our trust in God and keep our hearts open so the Holy Spirit can show us ways we can glorify Him in these trying times. I am praying for all of you, and for our wounded world. I'd ask the same of you all.

Extra Credit Opportunity: Latin Mass for the Virgin Mary

It might seem too early to think about extra credit, but it's the exact right time to wish Mary, Mother of God a happy birthday!
 
Tonight at 7:30 PM St. Mary's Parish on Greenwich Avenue will be celebrating a Tridentine Latin Mass in honor of the feast of the Nativity of the Virgin Mary. If you can make it, it should be an amazing experience! And if you have never been to a Latin Mass, you can write a reflection on your experience that will count toward extra credit for the quarter.

Looking for events for the Q2 event extra credit? Here are a few coming up this week:
 
  • Fr. Rob Galea will be playing with his praise and worship band at Our Lady Star of the Sea Parish in Stamford this Saturday night 11/19 at 7:00 PM, and at St. Pius X Parish in Fairfield (home of Fr. Sam Kachuba!) this Sunday night 11/20 at 7:30 PM. For info on the Stamford show, go to ourladystaroftheseastamford.org or for the Fairfield show contact [email protected]
  • This Sunday 11/20 at 4:00 PM, St. Mary's Parish on Greenwich Avenue will be having a solemn vespers service to celebrate the Feast of Christ King
  • On Tuesday, 11/22 St. Mary's will also celebrate a high Latin Tridentine Mass at 7:30 PM to celebrate the feast of St. Cecelia
