hi boys and girls welcome to math for today so we're starting our new topic in that and it has to do with a lot of measuring so you can follow along with me and your math book on page. 167 or if you don't have your math book you can just grab a blank piece of paper totally up to you so objects that are the longest and the shortest so if it's the longest that means it's the theme is the biggest and then if it's the shortest that means the same as the smallest item and say can you put these objects in order from longest to shortest and how can you tell if one object is longer than the other so we have a pencil a paintbrush and a marker so I know you can't see me doing this but you might want to do this if I put my pencil that I'm using down on my paper kind of see how long is item is just look at my pencil so I can see my leg that's an amazing for that the pencil is the longest now I want to find the shortest when I get the one in the middle for it down so we put our pencil down. The pencil I want to just look at the paintbrush and the marker and the markers old is just a little bit bigger than the paintbrush so I know the shortest item is the paintbrush La Casa now the item is in the middle it's not the longest at the shortest just the middle is the marker does say all we're doing is figuring out what items are the longest and which items are the shortest easier to see this time because they're lined up right with each other so I have 3 pieces of chalk a blue piece a pink piece and a purple piece they want us to draw a line showing which one's the longest and which one's the shortest so by looking at the picture I can see that the pink piece of chalk is kind of over the blue piece of chalk so I'm going to draw a line from wall I guess to that pink P to talk if I can just see the the longest is bigger than the purple pieces bigger than the blue piece now if I look at the blue and purple peace I can see that the purple piece is a little bit shorter than the blue piece so the shortest item has to be the purple peace alright let's look at number two number two we have a paint brush with green paint brush with purple paint and a paintbrush with blue paint so let's figure the longest first so I'm going to look and I can see the paint brush with the green paint is a bit longer so I just been kind of like that I can see that the green paint brush is the longest someone draw line from the longest to the green paint brush now I'm going to look at the Blue version the purple paint brush and I can see that the blueprint for a paintbrush is long in the purple one so the purple pink the papers of the purple paint has to have is a sort of cuz it's not as long or longer than the purple paintbrush so you're just figuring out which items that they are giving you a witch the longest and which one is the shortest
