hi boys and girls happy Friday it's mrs. van tongeren here it's May 22nd and today we will be continuing to talk about Ascension Thursday that we celebrated yesterday because that's a gospel for this weekend so even though yesterday is a day when we usually go to mass they also read the same gospel at the weekend at the weekend masses Saturday and Sunday so today we're going to read from The Book of Matthew in the Bible and then we're going to talk more about the Ascension in our Catholic kids bulletin would you have the two pages like we do every Friday now and this is all about the Ascension so I'll explain it at the end first we're going to do our daily prayers we're going to read the gospel chocolatl bit about it and then I'll tell you your activity for today so let's start with our daily prayers with the sign of the cross please follow along with me name of the father and of the son and of the holy spirit amen Our Father who art in heaven Hallowed be thy name thy kingdom come thy will be done on Earth as it is in heaven give us this day our daily bread and forgive us our trespasses as me those who trespass against us and lead us not into temptation but Deliver Us from Evil amen Hail Mary full of grace the Lord is with thee blessed art thou among women and blessed is the fruit of thy womb Jesus holy Mary Mother of God pray for us sinners now and at the hour of our death amen glory be to the Father the Son and to the Holy Spirit as it was in the beginning is now and ever shall be World Without End Amen Oh my Jesus forgive us our sins save us from the fires of All Souls to Heaven especially those in most need a timer see father Holy Spirit okay so our gospel for today is Matthew Matthew Matthew chapter 12 8 vs 16 through 20 so I have my reading from the International Children's Bible so the words are a little bit more easier to understand and the words that you know we all can understand a little bit a lot like what the priest will be reading on this weekend he'll use them bigger words but this is the same exact story just written in a way that as kids we can so it's called Jesus talks to his followers and remember he's having a very important conversation because he's saying goodbye to them for the last time obviously Jesus will always be with us and he's always with her castles in his followers and his body is leaving the Earth we talked about that yesterday so this is Matthew 28 verses 16 through 20 if you have it in a Bible at home or if you want to follow online or you just want to listen you can do that so we're going to start at the beginning the 11 followers went to Galilee they went to the mountain where Jesus told them to go on the mountain they saw Jesus and worship him but some of them did not believe that it was really Jesus then Jesus came to them and said all power in heaven and on Earth is given to me so go and make followers of all people in the world baptized father and the Son and the Holy Spirit teach them to obey everything that I have told you you can be sure that I will be with you always I will continue with you end of the world that's the gospel for this weekend boys and girls he has a lot of important things in this passage first his 11 followers follow him we know that after he right on the cross on Good Friday Judas left and was no longer his father because Judas was the one that the Jesus right we talked about that around Easter we've known that for a long time cutest one of his followers that need at 12 betrayed Jesus and turn them into the Roman soldiers laughed and he is no longer with that we learned that Judas was very sorry for what he did and he apologize through prayer to God so we do know that uses now 11 followers went to watch him Ascend into heaven she went to the top of the mountain we talked about that cool riddle like facts that yesterday that you hopefully you looked it up online and you looked up the footprint in the Rock cuz it's super cool to look at and to imagine that that is the last place to see the sun again Jesus said that all power in heaven and on Earth is given to me to go and make followers of all people in the world baptize them in the name of the father Son and Holy Spirit his Apostles to go and make people believe in him remember our job as Catholics this is where Jesus tells us our jobs to go and to make people understand who got in Jesus are to help people know about God and Jesus that's our job as Catholics to teach others that he's telling us right here and telling all of his followers to go and teach people about God and Jesus in about the face of being Catholic he also says to baptize them is so important when we become followers of God and Jesus to receive the sacrament of baptism it makes us into one of God's children and it makes us into one of the members of the church without the baptism obviously it's good to believe in God and Jesus but the sacrament of baptism is so important because it UniFi that's it brings us together with God and Jesus and makes us a permanent member of the Catholic Family we become a child of God at the Sacramento Zoo he is telling us how is it is right there to be baptized and then he tells them to obey everything that he's told us so he gave us rules right we talked about Moses gave us the tent Play Jesus gave us the Beatitudes we talked about that it's a beautiful attitude the Beatitudes so it's the way that he wants us to act there's eight of them we learned about that a few weeks ago It's always important to remember the 10 commandments that has that Golden Rule in their right treat others the way you want to be treated and also the eight Beatitudes all the way that we should behave and act Jesus told us to do so all those rules are very important and In this passage he's telling us how important it is to follow those rules and then he tells us as a last goodbye that he will continue with us until the end of the world and this is such an important part of the passage because this tells us that Jesus is always with us he's with us right now as we learn about this he's with us whenever we're scared or lonely or hurt you happy and excited and proud and brave he's with us all the time and he's always our brother and he's always the most important one who died for our sins so this passage is things he's telling us right before he leaves but that's the gospel for the weekend now you guys are experts about it so when you hear from the priest will know exactly what he's talking about you can even teach your mom dad brother sisters Grandpa all about what you learned about the gospel for this weekend so on to our activity we're going to do the Catholic kids bulletin again these pages are a lot of fun I hope you're having a good time coloring and activities and being able to learn more about our God repeat has 10 11 and 12 right we have 10 11 and 12 it says Friday at the top of all of both sheets do you know that you have to do it for today the Catholic kids bulletin Ascension so want you to trace over Ascension it says can you find Jesus has passed through the clouds in heaven he has ascended you can follow this man is pretty it took me a couple tries and then over here it's his Catholic kids bulletin God mounts his throne to shouts of Joy a blare of trumpets for the Lord so God so excited that Jesus is coming he's coming to heaven so all the Angels and Archangels and everyone in Heaven is joyful they're so happy and they're blowing trumpets is hit at his arrival they're singing hymns of praise and it's probably the most joyous day besides Easter his Easter was the most joyous day was Jesus Ryan rising from the deck and now this is the next most choice Oh Happy Day When Jesus is returning to heaven during the Nicene Creed that's a prayer that we say during mass we say he ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the father listen for those words during that so that line which as he ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the father that's part of a prayer that we say at the beginning of mass called the Nicene Creed next time you listen to Matthew watch make sure you listen for that line is it talks about Ascension Thursday so we say that every single time we go to best we talk about Ascension Thursday every single time now you can look up you can trace this you can color whatever you'd like to color on the front and then we go to the next page page 12 it says today we celebrate the Feast of the Ascension Jesus ascended into heaven his body and soul Rose into heaven awesome it is such an awesome thing as draw picture of Jesus rising into heaven so these are all of his followers pointing up looking at him Rising into heaven have the clouds which represent heaven right Rising what's your job to draw Jesus somewhere in here you can have him already in the cloud you can have him we rising up whatever you'd like to do be used to draw Jesus in rising up to heaven or in the clouds like that and you can color all the apostles and all his followers so that's our activity for today I hope you enjoy the gospel it's such a Full Gospel that we learned today and I hope that you enjoy Ascension Thursday yesterday I hope you witness Mass this weekend's weather you on your computer or at your church in your car outside enjoy this time because it's such a time for the church turn off followers because they love Jesus they want to be with him always but we have to remember that. His father gets to be with Jesus again in heaven and that's like going home to your parents they love you and they want to be with you so super happy Jesus boys and girls enjoy the outside you something creative and fun spend time in prayer with your family always keep God in Jesus in your mind and your heart have a great weekend and I'll see you on Monday by
