Closings & Delays
Inclement Weather Procedures and Emergency Closing Notification
Listed below is important information that you will need to know regarding school procedures in the event of school delays and/or early dismissals.
The Superintendent of Greenwich Public Schools decides if there will be a school closing or delayed opening due to weather. If bad weather is predicted, please tune into the media stations on days school is in session so that you will be aware of any announcements. Students and parents are therefore urged to not call the school for this information. It is very important that the telephone lines are available for emergency purposes.
Once again, the Superintendent of Greenwich Public Schools makes the decision when there will be a school closing, delay or early dismissal due to weather. It is the parents’ responsibility to be aware of inclement weather situations especially during the winter months.
Information will be available on Connecticut local television stations Channel 12, radio stations (WGCH-1490AM, WSTC-1400AM or WVIP-1310AM) and online at http://www.ctweather.com
and on the homepage of our school website. To make things easier, we encourage parents to sign up for e-Notification on CTweather.com
to receive email notifications. Please note that once you sign up you will receive an email to confirm your email address. You will then need to login and select the school(s) you want to receive announcements for (I recommend you select both Greenwich Catholic and Greenwich Public school). If for some reason you do not receive the initial confirmation email, please check your junk mail and add them to your address book so that their emails don't get filtered.
School Closing Policies
When it is decided that schools are to be closed for inclement weather, an announcement will be made by Administration in concurrence with the Superintendent of Greenwich Public Schools to the local television and radio stations (by 5:30AM) and check the website (by 6:00AM)
