Go through the rubric with them and see if they can show you where they have covered all of the requirements. A personal narrative it supposed to tell a small moment (e.g. not a whole vacation, but 1 day/1 experience on that vacation). Describe it in detail so that the reader is actually re-living your experience. "Don't tell me...SHOW me" through description.
