Arts & Culture

The Cultural and Performing Arts Program at Greenwich Catholic exposes students to enriching educational experiences outside of the classroom.

Cultural Events

The Home School Association of Greenwich Catholic School takes an active role in the cultural development of the students. It sponsors various programs for the school and for specific classes that correlate to the curriculum that provide hands-on opportunities for the children. Paralympian Chris Waddell visited GCS early this year and inspired the students with his presentation on resilience and community. Animal Embassy brought live animals to provide living examples of the diverse fauna of the four tropical rainforest regions of the world. Through hands-on exploration, the children realized the significance of the threatened ecosystems to our everyday lives. Channel 12 Weather Kids Program brought the weather to the First Grade. In the new year, students will visit the Greenwich Symphony, “Meet the Musicians”, “Go for the Stars” and participate in “Amazing Hero Art.” The fifth grade will celebrate a traditional Passover Seder with a local rabbi, middle school students will be introduced to Shakespeare through workshops designed to make the text accessible to all. Our Little Angels and Pre-K classes will participate in the SMNC Farm Program and the Japanese Historical society will be visiting grade two.

Performing Arts

Greenwich Catholic produces a Spring Musical each year.  The GCS Players performed Roald Dahl's "Willy Wonka Jr." in April.  The musical was produced by Mrs. Mandy Capogrossi, a parent of a student at GCS.  From casting to stage and set design, the GCS Players produced and performed a weekend of shows open to the public.

GCS offers an instrumental and string program to students in Grades 3-8.  Students receive lessons one day per week by a professional musician and perform a Spring Band Concert.
